Cline Ranch, Texas Hill Country - April 22

We will be holding another run out at Cline Ranch in the Texas Hill Country on April 22.

Cline Ranch offers six main trails, ranging from easy to not-so-easy, and plenty of flex testing optional obstacles and steep climbs.

For those that went out last time with us, we'll be running the same trails, and some harder ones.

When do you expect to leave the ranch this weekend? My co-pilot has a time constraint and if we are staying late I need to find a new one.

We were finished by 4:00 last time, I expect it be something similar, but you can leave earlier easy enough if you need to.

We only had four vehicles turn up, 2 H2's, 1 H3, and a Jeep. We also had the property out in his Samurai. The trails were soft and hard going. I wasted most of the day for everyone, getting stuck in a ditch for about an hour, and then blowing a CV on a 400' hill climb that I was slowly winching myself up, removing the half shaft (laying on ground crwaling with scorpions), then slowly winching myself down. I shouldn't have been on it in a H2 in retrospect, just too heavy and too big to make it up.

Deep scratches and dents were very evident on both H2's. The smaller H3 and Jeep remained pretty much unscathed and had a much easier tim of it, due to the tightness of the trails and the lighter weight of the vehicles.

I did get the H2 over to 40 degrees and it is not very pleasant when your face is 2' from the side of the ditch, I spent a good half hour at 35 degrees, watching my washer fluid poor out of the drivers side nozzle and even my PS fluid poor out.

It was still a blast and fun, but better days have been had.

Yikes Phil! Did you atleast get pics?

I think we almost lost an H2 in DV on Saturday. One guy tried an optional hill climb during lunch. it was so steep he barely made it up. Then on the way down his front tires dropped off a ledge and both rear tires came of the ground as the lunch crowd at the bottom let out a collective gasp.

All others set to try it, bailed immediately.

Damn, now I really wish I had made it. I would have never lived it down had I skipped out on my new nephew though. New life is amazing. He makes me feel old though.
