That is what I was thinking as well. The sun will come out by lunchtime and provide us a beautiful day.

Chains are awesome in the mud...

Trucks all ready to go, tools loaded up, spare parts case loaded up, clothes laid out.

I had a bad power steering leak, but new-o-rings this morning fixed that, and there's no leaks anymore so that's good :yup:

Problem is it all depends how work goes today. I won't know if I can go until 9 or 10pm tonight :wall:

What time do you guys think we'll be done by? mid afternoon?

Both trails will take us all day. However the great thing about Cleghorn is that you can leave at any time. You just take the fire road all the way out to Hwy 138. The take Hwy 138 to the 15. Easy as pie. 2n17x is a short trail that won't take very long. It's more of a dessert to finish off the day. It has a lot of fun challenges.

I guess that with no breakages and limited photo ops we'll be coming off Cleghorn noon-ish? 2n is a short trail but has a few technical sections that might slow us a bit. Hope you can make it.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. The neck is doing better today. Getting out of the office and away from being strapped down to an office chair seems to work wonders.
I will avoid resorting to the cable chains unless in duress. Here is an interesting link on this subject:

For those coming out of OC and want to caravan.

A number of us are meeting at 7:15 Mimi's cafe 55/17th St. for breakfast. Probably hit the road at 8:00 from there.

Made it home. What a day. Will post up a report tomorrow. We had 21 trucks today and I am exhausted from spotting and running up and down the trail.

Great job today Seth. It's hard running a smooth adventure with that many rigs but you did great. I'm looking forward to the next one.

It was a long, but fun day. 18 trucks is insane, I am glad I went but if I had known how many were going to be there I might have opted out -- groups that big are hard to keep going at a decent pace. Been a while since my poor truck has seen more action than a speed bump.

Troy, I wish you were on 2N to try subman. It was all torn up again and great for jeeps...not so good for hummers. Seth made it pretty easy, followed by the lifted black h2. I barely made it...and really messed it up for the next guy.

Looking forward to the pics!

Looked fun, maybe with that number of trucks it may have been a good idea to split into 2 groups, one on cleghorn and one on 2n17x anmd then swap mid day :).

I'm still [even today] at work otherwise I would have been there. But hey, more overtime means I can get more work done on the truck.

I'll catch all you guys next time.

It was a great day. We had quite a few unexpected show including 3 Jeeps who happened upon us and wanted to tag along as they were all running solo. In total there was 21 rigs at one time.

We did have one H2 lock up his front differential ten minutes after starting up the fire road. He had just installed a front locker and apparently the shop screwed something up. Nothing about the fire road should have caused it. Just by chance...Who knows. That took an hour and a half to get his front drive shaft and the passenger half shaft removed. He could then move freely on 4hi-lock.

However, I must say that the group moved along amazingly well for being so large. If we wouldn't have had the break down at the beginning, we would have made it off the trail in a very good amount of time. I am very happy the group kept moving despite the desire to stop and watch others and take pictures. I definitely prefer to have smaller groups, but would be happy to lead another large group like this if everyone keeps it moving.
