Cool pics, looks like you had a fun time with the fam!

Lots of tax free, thank you very much! 5 years in all spent there and in Iraq. Both are such nice places!
Yea, I'm digging the normal folks. Now a dead dog on the side of the road, is, well, just that! Don't wanna ever go back, but who knows????

That hill was a little freaky. But I don't think it even spun except near the top where I gunned it to stirr up some dust!

Sometimes its easier to use hedge trimmers than it is to buff out scratches. 8)

Okay, so I am guessing you didn't use those fancy disconnects you fabbed in the rear :)

Next, I am going to bring up the topic I mentioned back when you did the rear mods...hehe. I mentioned something back then about the short end links and their upper mounts being more towards the rear end. I was concerned that under a full droop condition that the links would not allow full movement - are we sure this is not what caused the issue? Can you please post some side angles of the end links. Also, with end links connected, can you snap a pic of what they look like with rear wheels off the ground and at full droop?

Tom,

You're all over it...as usual!

OK, in my feeble defense, I was just going to go out and do some trail riding, that's all! Well with all the others doing crazy stuff, I had the H2 in there in no time. You might say, the suspension elected to disconnect itself!
Yep, I didn't disconnect, just too lazy! (that won't happen again!)
You are correct, with the links connected, I can't get anywhere near full droop. Plus I never squashed the opposite side as hard as I did that day, so the rear was really trying to get more flex. Enough, as it turns out to snap the weld off the factory link. Please note I said the factory weld failed, not my reconstruction! (It's a small victory, but a victory none the less!)
I am rebuilding with rod ends and proper endlinks, like you'd expect to see in the rotorhead of my bird. No more snappy!
Here's a couple shots:

I made a similar mistake once, by not removing my steps. They dont last long on the rocks!

So now we have to work on the geometry back there:) I am thinking you will want the frame tabs more towards the front like close to where the OEM tabs are now. When sitting at normal ride height, the links should angle forward - so they will need to be longer. This angle is required so there is plenty of available length when at full droop. You also want those frame tabs positioned right above the sway bars bushings.

To determine proper length, let rear end hang at full droop, turn ends of away bar straight upward and measure how long they need to be (pointing straight upward). Next, you will then want to determine if the frame mounted tabs need to be in different location from where the OEM tabs are. Lower rear off of jack so it is sitting at ride height. Position sway bar so ends are parallel to ground and see where the new length of end link lands on the frame rails. You probably know this all already because you are better at this stuff than I am, but I wanted to try and help. I only know of this, because I have contemplated doing your exact same mod every time I look at that Low Hanging Sway Bar Assembly back there.

Good thoughts...

Here's how I cyphered it out...
There is so much travel between full stuff and full droop, there is no optimum location for the upper end link mounts. What I did is compromise. At resting height which is 44" floor to wheel arch, place the sway bay level, then cant slightly upward (a couple degrees) THis is to get the bar to help you slide forward when contacting stuff if you have the bar hooked up.
The length does not really relate to full stuff or droop, since it is simply disconnected and the end links self store, A simple bungee chord keeps the sa=way bar up and out of the way while you go driving through stuff. So all that angle stuff is not all that relative unless you forget to disconnect (Like I just did!)
