Jeep Lower Forty

Postby JR3T » Sun Jan 10, 2010 3:23 am

Saw this at the auto show today. 40" Mickey Thompson Baja Claws are something else in person on this tiny thing. Anyways, just thought i'd post some pics of the HX wannabe.

Yeah 40's and no lift.. Just fender carving..

Saw some pics from Rokmen here a while back of a TJ w/ a 2.5 lift on 40's and another with no lift on 38's.. They built them up to take to EJS in Moab.. Those builds were a bit overshadowed when Jeep showed up with the Lower Fourty Skunk..

That is pretty sweet. I would want a little more lift, but it looks cool.

I love it but at this point, Crapsler is running on government handouts so I don't see something like this being high on the priority list. Not a big money maker for them and not something the tree huggers will support, especially with its HEMI engine. If they do make it into production, it will probably have an engine that kills the deal, just like the JK.

If you read up on it, you will find this is pretty much a chopped JK Rubicon. Having owned one, I have to wonder how it would drive with that rubber. It might need to be strictly a weekend warrior. That said, a weekend warrior that would have little competition

They did a special on this Jeep in Off-Road mag a few months ago.
I am 99% sure it is rocking a Hemi.
I would love to own one of these, just needs some black bead-locks.
Some action pics....

The Lower 40's been around for some time. It was Mopar Underground concept vehicle and Burnsville Offroad re-powered it with a Hemi 5.7 and did a lot of other work on it. I believe they will do the conversion on your JK for somewhere around $55K.

I think it looks great, but for $55k I'd want more than D44's and a lot more flex than the 40 offers, and they can keep the 20" rims. Nicely styled vehicle, but lacking in real world off-road ability in my view.
