Anyone wanna scout Dusy Ershim with me to set up an all-cal hard core run? Trail stats:
Location: Central Sierra (east of Fresno)
Trail Length: 30 miles
Expected Duration: 2-3 days
Description: This one is the king, 30 miles of Rubicon like terrain and two or three days of pure fun. The Dusy-Ershim route is a 600-foot corridor between two wilderness areas, the John Muir and Dinkey Lakes wilderness areas. The route is definitely only for experienced drivers. Most people take a minimum of two days or as many as four days to travel its entire length to Kaiser Pass Road above Huntington Lake. Stock vehicles will likely not complete this challenging trail and the likely hood of body damage is high for most vehicles, even those with basic modifications. Trail closes for the winter at the end of deer season.

I will end up doing this sometime after the pre-run in NV just to get out of the SJ Valley heat. I welcome all that are willing to partake (and call in "sick" if we get stuck  ). I know that some of the best natural lake trout fishing in the world is a short hike from the trail and many of the vistas have no equal, world-wide. Good armor is recommended and can be fabricated in the days before the trip for anyone willing to come to the Fresno area ahead of time (you never know if you might accidentally design the H1/2/3 equivalent to the Jeep Quadratec or Bushwhacker armor, but I'd be glad to help). It may be more than what Bully is asking for...but its all I got to offer......FOR NOW    !

ALL NOR/SO-CALIFORNIA hXc MEMBERS: PLAN TO BE IN THE RENO AREA FOR 1 WEEKEND IN THE MIDDLE OF JULY! We're gonna pre-run...its gonna be fun....WE'RE gonna break some sheet (not on purpose) but it's only to find the weak links....I have no problem letting other people test my truck's limits...I've never had too much help, beer, or access to tools while fixing a vehicle... SO SHOW UP AND BRING PARTS, FLUIDS, TOOLS, BANNERS, STICKERS, and all the other stuff you want out in the public eye!

H1S, you tell me when you can run after the 13th and I'll be there with BARRELS of B50!
I finally know my calling in life! I'm an a asshole!

Good to see the locals getting restless. :P Sewie and I were just talking about it a little bit and Bebe and I talked about it over lunch last friday - not sure she has any weekends open until sometime in 2009 so we may have to go without her.

Kevin (blackrockit) called me last night.

This weekend is too soon I think. So either the weekend after - June 28/29 or two weeks after that - July 12/13. (4th of july weekend would be bad I think).

Where shall we go? Cow mountain? bear valley? I80?

Anybody want to camp sat night and make it a 2 day run with sunday being optional? We could do trails in the bear valley area and camp down in wolfsboro for a night (or two)? Cow mountain has nice camping too. Not sure there is two days of good trails there though.

stjames, I am trying to get time off to help "test" your truck next month. I'll be following the dates for the test run over in the other thread.

As for your other adventure, that sounds like a ton of fun. Be sure and post it up or hit me up with a PM when you decide or want to start planning.

I've always wanted to do Dusy. Barring any unforseen work conflict or world war, I'm going to attempt Fordyce in Mid Aug so after that I'd love to try it...that is if the truck still works or isn't permanantly corked in some v-notch.

I've been wanting to do Dusy for a while now, but the trip just never seems to materialize. And from what I've heard, getting through the trail in 2-3 days is easier said than done. Whenever I do it, I'm going to plan at least 4 days on the trail. Even if you end up making good time, you can just spend more time enjoying the mountains/lakes/etc.

As for the NorCal group --- YES!!! Let's hit the frelling trails already. :x :P I'll be at the FOTR workday with Bebe this weekend. And busy next weekend. Then the 4th. So let's plan something for the 12th-13th. And then another weekend when the Bullies can join us. :yup: Bear Valley is almost clear of snow from what I hear. And there are still some trails up there we haven't done yet that I want to do - like Pardoe and Niagara Rim.

Works for me. Let's settle on those dates and bear valley with exact trails to be determined. I'm hoping my brother can ride along with us by then.

you posted 12/13 - did you want to camp or just pick one of those days? Lemme know and I'll get the email out when I get home tonight. I'm up for either. We could camp at wolfboro or better yet - sour grass. 8)

Ive been craving some offroad madness!! My prayers have been answered. LOL.

As for the 4 day trail run... Unfortunatley neither Jamie or I could could get the time off work right now for that. This weekend Jamie will be working both days and on the 28th will be out on the Delta with friends so hitting a trail and camping in early July sounds perfect for us!

Hopefully the price of fuel will be dropping lower like it did yesterday.

I'm free the last weekend in July and the last weekend in August.

Don't forget the HUMMER work weekend on the Tahoe side of the Rubicon August 22-23. I fully expect to see some sign ups from the Nor Cal and So Cal folks. Another great opportunity for HUMMER folks to give back to the trails!!!

I should probably post my schedule and see if anyone else wants to join me ???

Well if not to join you, it would be nice to have so that we could set up your intervention. ;) :P
