CATMAN'S XJ

How you built it

CATMAN'S XJ

Hell I might as well join in on this new section too.

My Jeep started out as a Cherokee with a 4.5" lift and 33's. Now it sits at 6.5" still on 33's with alot of dents in it! :D :D It has slowly made some progress and still ongoing. Here lately I have put some $$$$ into it. Last month I put a SYE in the Tcase and a Tom Woods driveshaft, Rusty's HD adjustable track bar, JCR Offroad heavy duty front and rear bumpers, and cut off the roof and put a full roll cage in it.

Next on my plate is Dana 44 axles front and rear and an Atlas II Twin Stick Transfer Case. I already have the axles all I need to do is re-gear them and lock them up. Then I have to fab up some long arms for the front end and I will be going to 35" tires!!!

Here is a pic of when I first got it. When I get back in town tomorrow I will try and get some pics this weekend if it is finished of the roof being off and the roll cage in it.

As a matter of fact I have not had it for a year. It is getting close to a year though! There was a straight panel on it until Joe B decided he wanted drive up my 33's with his 38's and ran up my driver side front fender....bastard!! Actually the hood is still in good shape...no dents!!!

A little duct tape and JB weld and no one would know the difference!   Are you gonna go tube door's too?
Seriously, looks good. I'm jealous. I can't quite bring myself to shaving the pillars off mine and adding a cage. They're like Homer Simpson's last two hairs.
I finally know my calling in life! I'm an a asshole!
I feel sorry for all the soldiers and intelligence officers who over the last century have worked hard to defeat communism, only to have it elected by "choice".

Well the roof came off in on big piece so it could be welded right back on there!!

Thanks guys! I will be back in town tonight and get some final pics of it tomorrow and get them posted up. All I will have to do is paint the cage which will probably be Caterpillar yellow to match my bumpers. I am gonna eventually get tube doors for it. They are about $270 a pair for the cherokee so they will have to wait. For now the doors will get cut level to the rest of the body so they will have no frame and they will also be removable like a wrangler. I will at some point and time make some tube fenders for the front too seeing how both front fenders are completely smashed in due to unknown cause!

I ordered a complete set of adjustable upper and lower control arms which i will have to put on when they come in. When I put the 2" spacers in the front it kicked my axle up and the springs back b/c my control arms are rated of a 4.5" lift so I am excited to get those in hopefully tomorrow.

I decided to go with either 4.56 or 4.88 gears when i do my axles along with ARB air lockers.

It may look like a crushed beer can but I wouldnt trade it for anything. The Cherokee was definitely a great investment!!
