Runners, Joggers?

Postby PhilD » Tue Aug 19, 2008 12:08 pm

I know there are some here that run and jog, so what kind of distances are you covering?

I'm a light weight (too old and too slow) and go 4 or 5 times a week, usually 5 or 6 miles each time, 80% of it on the beach.

After a series of soleus injuries, I stopped wearing a stop watch and stopped racing against the clock, but my pace varies anywhere from 9 to 12 minutes depending on how hot it is and how windy it is

I was running 5-6 miles 4 or 5 times a week at the beginning of the year but have cut back to around 2-3 miles now. I mainly run bike/hiking trails or street. Im about 25-30 mins away from the beach or else I would be there every day.
Miss you Rich! Thank's for all the memories!

Before I went to Africa last year I was doing 5 miles at the YMCA as often as I could but it was mostly a fast walk as my shins (and my lungs) won't let me go much faster for long. Now that I have managed to lose the gains I made then I need to start anew. :wall:

I try not to run unless I'm being chased. And that's been happening less frequently as I get older. :where:

I train with weights more so than I run. The best advice I can offer is to get a heart rate monitor watch and train with it

A few years back I was running 5-10 miles 4 times a week. But with faciatis (sp?) I had to stop. I started rock climbing (gym mostly) about a year and a half ago and lost a little over 40 lbs. Talking with Phil about running on our last outing got me interested again so I picked it up again 2 weeks ago. I'm running 2-3 miles twice a week (still climbing 2-3 times a week) and so far the feet are holding up well. Need to get some new shoes though. I forgot how much I enjoyed running and hope I can keep myself to a moderate level this time (I was running 10-15 at least once a week before I quit....waaay to much for me I think).

Jeez, Phil, you can run 5-6 miles in 9 minutes. :o That's incredible.
