Nuggets new camping table

Postby nugget » Sun Oct 11, 2009 3:07 am

Camping table to suit the drawer system in the H3 has been a bit of an ongoing issue. Off the shelf ones were either the wrong shape or too big/small. I also wanted a project to test out my new aluminum welder. We wanted 2 tables so 1 could be "in the kitchen" at the rear of the H3 and the 2nd I could use under the awning and also be the dinner table.

I finally came up with a design where the legs screw into the corners and 1 table nestles inside the other to save a lot of space.

And the 2 halves all stacked an ready to go in the car and ready for the our next trip next weekend.

Nice work!

I picked up a folding aluminum table at Academy a few years ago but the top is some kind of cardboard or something...

The table has worked really well but was heavier than would have liked as I used solid round for the legs. The legs screw into the bottom of the table.Recently picked up a small metal lathe so I bought some round tube, cut the threading end of the solid tube and turned it down so it fits inside the tube. The legs are much lighter now.
