Not to the best of my knowledge. Maybe thats just where the needles sit when it off. I've never noticed that. I'll be checking when I get home.

I just dug out an old pic of my 98 dash and it did the same, gauges stayed wherever they wehere when you turned off the ignition.

yep, I checked, they always read the same when I shut it off.

When I shut mine off, Oil Pressure, RPMs, and Coolant stay in their current reading. Voltage and fuel default to full left (zero). If you flip the key to run real quick, the tach will go to zero, and I would wager that oil would do the same (although I don't remember).

First new toys in a long time. Yay for toys!

First is new (to me) toughbook laptop with built in GPS and DeLorme Topo 7.0. Mike (mak209) was kind enough to build me a mount. I didn't want predators H1 laptop mount because it uses a center basket for it's mount location. That's great if you never want to sleep in your rig. So at my request Mike built mine using a flat plate. No additional holes drilled - it just mounts to the existing cargo loop holes.

I opted not to use the 12V automobile dock that came with the latop to save weight. Instead I'm just using an inverter and the AC cord. Soon I'll get a bigger one and do a permanent install.

Finally running a spare. When I change tires I'm going to run MT/R's. I wanted to use a steel rim for a spare. Steel rims don't come in 17" with the correct backset for an H1 so I had to use 16.5. - MT/R's don't come in 16.5 so I found a unicore with a MT/R knockoff tread pattern. Should almost match. The toy part is the spare mount. Rhino Humvee surplus that lowers/lifts the spare. My H1 tires with runflats are impossible for me to lift alone.

I cringe when I think of what our tax dollars must have paid for these things just to have them auctioned and sold cheap. I don't think the one I ended up with had ever been used.

So, you run a spare on the roof and on the new carrier? I do like that carrier, it's pretty spiffy.

I was. First in 38" until I was told the 14.50 width was too wide for my rims. Then in 37, but since I already have one new MT/R (see below), I'm not sure there would be a big enough advantage running KM2's to justify the additional few hundred dollars.

No - thats the single MT/R I have. It has no rim. I bought it on the way to moab last year. Finding a spare rim was proving difficult and I figured if I got out there and lost a tire the most difficult part would be finding the replacement tire itself. Actually swapping the tire onto my rim is something I can do myself if I had to. It will come off the roof and be one of the 4 I install.
