My guess is that Rich's guess is correct. My second guess is that Johnnysizzle also knew. :P

My guess is that I knew all of that was answering beav and messing with Bellvis at the same. I also guess that no one else knew that. :P

Started building a permanent storage box today. I thought I'd be posting pics of the finsished product this evening but is turned out to be more of a project than I thought. We still need to finish one drawer and put a finish on it (black).

I've always liked the concept of the truck vault but not the practicality. Two huge drawers = One huge mess in my world. Plus I didn't want it so large that that it take the whole rear liek the truck vault, so, we built a custom box. In the end this is as wide and tall as the vault but not as deep leaving open storage in the rear for stuff like suit cases etc. Drawers are shallower and the top open to a shallow storage area for recover gear, first aid kit - stuff I need all of the time or need in a hurry. The drawers are still huge and one will be enough to hold all of my hand tools.

My brother is thinking of making these for side money. Maybe in the $700 neighborhood - or a little more for built to your specs.

I'll post more pics when it's done....

truck looks great Rich! You are smart to cover up those nice rims. I did the same to my 2 piece military rims but I was afraid of shearing off a bolt. The box looks great also -- can't wait to see it finished.

Very mean looking rig Rich.. got any of HummerDan's skid guards? That's all it's missing. :)

I second the skid guards -- they'll save your doors as well as being tough as nails protection under the truck. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished box. I made one for my truck but it replaces one of the back seats. I'd like one for the bed that's water tight -- I love the tuffy drawers but they are too long for the ot and 4dr's bed (and very $$).

Actually your rigs setup inspired this box to some degree. :yup:

The build is done. All I need to do is add hardware/locks and paint it. 8) I may also add a second set of drawer slides to each drawer - though I tested the setup now with about 60 pounds in a drawer without issue.

Thanks, but to clarify, the design is me - but my brother is doing the hardest parts of the build. It's pretty impressive since he's using hand tools (no table saws etc.)
