Rich's Build

How you built it

Rich's Build

Postby Rich » Thu Apr 24, 2008 11:57 pm

Well, in as much as you could call it "building" an H1. They don't need much. ;) :P

Rather than describe each pic, I'll give a run down of each mod and then post pics in order - sorta like an evolution.

There's definately been some doing - undoing and redoing. Something I promised myself wouldn't happen with the H1. :wall:

First pic is the day after she came home. First mod I think was brushgaurd lights, then the rack and lightbar. I liked the look at that point....until I saw Erics wagon after Neil (at H20) was done with it. Off came that rack and on with the H20 rack. The lightbar looked funky with the H20 Rack so it came off aswell and I put the lights on the rack valance - first the small ones I had and them the 9" pro-comp's.

I've done ucp LED lighting up front (I've since eliminated the dark spot in the center of the pic below by adding a 3rd light in the middle).

Mounted hi-lift on the rack

Lifted the snorkel a bit.

Rubber duck rock rims (on when needed)

Not really mod's, but inside I've added CB with external speaker and relocated CB antennas to the roof, Garmin CX on the left windshield and ipod hook-up.

Future plans:
Tires!!! (possibly on steel rims to save these expensive wheels)
Rocker protection
D-ring brushguard (H20)
Tool box in the rack at the rear.
Fuel can mounts on the rack.

After I'm out of warranty:
Body lift
40's

Then I'll be done and ready to buy and build my second (a dedictated trail rig) - a 97.5 - 98 open top I think.

one cb antenna - the other is a fake - I like the look of two. Makes a good spare too.

The 3rd you're seeing in the pismo pic is a dune flag.

If you're talking about the little flat GPS antennas - one goes to the street GPS and the other is Sirius sat radio.

Rich,
I have a really sick start on a perfect trail dedicated rig available. For your weather, it could even be a rough'n it D.D. Its waiting on customization...your customization! I wanna start over so I can run in a plethora of event styles.

I'm a long way from the second. Can't even afford tires for this one. :wall:

Buy mine. I'll put the 40's back on with 2 spares on double beadlocks, and throw in 4-37's on alloys so you'll never have to worry about your pretty rims again. Plus you have the reliablity of a Cummins, and the horsepower of a Viper/Vette. If not you, tell HiTech, F-it...tell anyone its for sale. Everything is for sale.

Another option for a dedicated trail rig is an older NA rig (extermely reliable) and trailer it.

Unfortunately the "nightmare" part has to do with the inability of those willing, or the unwillingness of those "capable" to work on it. Now that the problems are solved...Its still a nightmare for the mechanically inept. You, however, seem to have lots of mechanical ability. A master of his tool one might say.  Ok enough about my "nightmare". Delete these posts. This is supposed to be about your rig.

As much as I liked my H2, there was no hesitation to go balls to the wall in it...the last thing I cared about was a scratch or dent. However, if I had your H1, I'd baby that thing 24/7...just looks too good all nice and shiny to get it banged up. I really like the off-road lights and that roof rack is insane! :D

Thanks. I'm getting used to the lights - they grow on you. :yup:

Ditto on your Jeep. The green is still my fav on the JK. Still wish you'd pulled the trigger on the H1 before seeing Phils JK though. :P

It's not as nice in person. I darken the pics so you can't see the brush rake. :P
