I can't afford such luxuries

Here's a write up of them installed on a Jeep:

If you search around you'll find plenty of pics of them on H1's.

I've heard different reviews of them. A lot of people love them, but some people going from aftermarket headlights to them have said that their aftermarket lights are brighter.

I think the only thing brighter is true HID at 4x the cost.

Thats a good price. I think I rmember a group buy at $500 a set.

Yeah, they are not cheap. I suspect pricing of LED lamps will come down, as the variety of other LED aux lamps are expensive also.

I looked into some LED spreader lamps for the boat recently and they are proud of those too.

I haven't been able to do a in person comparison of HID vs LED on a H1 yet. But the LEDs don't even compare to the HID on other vehicles. I'd say for 4X the cost you get 4x the brightness with it. That being said I love the LEDs. The improvement over stock halogens, the simplicity of plug and play, and the durability of LED they are worth the price.

LED's are improving. A single 10w LED can output about 750 lm, put 10 of them in a lamp and you'd have around 7,500 lm, more than most HID's. Of course you are now drawing a lot of current and lose some of the benefits of LED, which is why a lot of manufacturers are sticking with 3w or 5w LED's.

The other big issue with LED's is the spectrum, narrow spectrum LED's don't illuminate the road very well regardless of much light output they have, whereas wide or full spectrum do a much better job.
