Thanks Bell for your expertise. I had the chance to browse a few websites. I think I can eliminate the racers. 40-60+ MPH, not for me.
I'm pretty sure within a few minutes at that speed it would not be long before we would have a resemblance to a Motorstorm PS/3 crash. :o

Well I would recommend the SCX10 or AX10 from Axial.
Axial makes some awesome strong trucks, have a huge following and they have a ton of aftermarket support. Plus they are based in Irvine and have great customer service.
http://www.axialracing.com/ftp/chassis_selection.html
The SCX10 is more of a "scale crawler" verses the AX10 which is basically a "competition crawler."
The SCX10 has a slightly smaller tire size then the AX10.
The SCX10 Honcho is more capable then the SCX10 Dingo. Just different bodies and wheel bases pretty much.

I personally have 2 SCX10's and my fellow R/C trailmaster has 3 so I vote for the SCX10.
I get a lot of my stuff from http://www.RPPHobby.com Cory is awesome to work with and ships very fast.
He has the SCX10 Honcho TR (Trail Ready) for $260 or you can get the kit for a little cheaper and build the truck up yourself plus you would need to buy electronics (motor, speed control, steering servo, radio). Most people get the kit because they like to mix and match their own electronics which are almost always better then the stock electronics that come with the Ready To Run models plus it gives you a chance to build up your truck on your own.

As far as batteries go, Lipo batteries are hands down the best. You get a constant discharge from them and long run times. I can get 2 hour or more run times on mine depending on how I drive.
I get all of my Lipo batteries from http://www.HobbyPartz.com and http://www.HobbyKing.com.

H3-ing, if you have any questions please let me know. http://www.RCCRAWLER.com in another great website for info.
One of these weekends we should get together and I'll show you everything I have and let you drive them.
Miss you Rich! Thank's for all the memories!

My prototype HX. More mods planned.
Had a HX chassis sitting in my son's toy box... So I spent a little time moding today.

We can run Sunday if you want.
I am taking the trucks to play Saturday to Mount Baldy and watch the Amgen Tour of California Stage Race if you want to join the party.

The Wraith is cool 8) Quit teasing me.

Also that Hummer body has lights wired into it. Need your help on how to connect them.

Picked up a cobra 75 CB and wanted to wire it under the driver seat (my H3 :) ) .
I seem to remember you had a 75 wired under your seat. There seems to be a thousand wires under there, so I have no idea where to tap into. :duh:

I see this thread making a comeback. Ok so I'm late to the party. I'm in my 2/3 crazy state of mind and needed things to do close to home.

Can't decide on power or sail RC! lol So the old person answer would be...............both?

The quad will go up out of site. (is that the new frontier?)The only way to get it back at that point is to flip the RTH (return to home) and it lands where it took off.
Don't think I will try that out of site part just yet.
I did try the RTH and it lands within 2 feet most of the time, my two feet. Then at the last moment you can switch back to manual for a safe landing spot.
This is some hi-tech stuff compared to "remote control" when I was a kid was a cable attached to your toy truck or plane.
