Skyjacker shocks H7000 hydro or 8000 nitro

Postby fourfourto » Tue Jan 03, 2017 3:59 pm

Looking at the skyjacker shocks the H3 is almost at 150K with original shocks

I was told the hydro shocks don't rebound and the nitro shocks do rebound.
I assume factory shocks are hydraulic
What are benefits of the nitro.
I tow a 4000lb camper, moderate off roading and still use on road every day

Have heard a few people who have been pretty happy with the Skyjackers but don't recall which.

My gf has the 7000 series on front of 06 H3. There OK. Better than I thought they would be.

Is the trailer lowering the rear end due to tongue weight? If yes, your best bet is to get a set of airbags to re-level the H3. Had to install a set on my H3, when I had it and when I pulled the trailer. Also, one nice feature is that air bags help to smooth out washboard roads.

If you are talking about hydraulic shocks that have the air inside replaced with nitrogren. Nitrogen expands at a steady rate and HELPS to reduce cavitation of the hydraulic fluid. Are the OEM shocks filled with Nitrogen? Not sure, but would guess yes.
Since shocks were pretty much a non-issue we in service engineering would not get into how they are manufactured; but how to replace them if a problem. And since they are a very easy item to replace; we didn't expel much energy on shocks.
My rear shocks were replaced under warranty at about 42K miles, but those rock steps in Moab could do a job on them faster than just driving on the road or mudding.
