Water in engine!!!

Postby dukdog7 » Mon Jun 18, 2012 5:32 pm

Can hardly believe i did this... MAY, just MAY be the dumbest thing i have ever done. Got in a little too deep pulling some tubers aroung our pond in Wisconsin!
Dealership is telling me that the BCM needs replaced, etc. We will see. Hoping it isnt totalled. The car was about half full of water. These pics are after we pulled it out about 3-4 feet! I guess i didnt have my wits about me to take pics sooner...

Needless to say, I took the coils and sparkplugs out and could see water in the cylinder. Tried to start it to see if i could blow the water out like i used to do in my jeep, but there is a security lock on the dash and key will not turn over. Tried to do a relearn on the computer but it didnt work... Any suggestions?? :duh: :duh:

Suggestion... To late now, but you should have shoved it on in and went for the totalled out route and got another one...

If there's water in the cylinders it very well could have hydrolocked when it sucked the water in.. Suggest that all fluids be changed.. Engine, tranny, transfer case, both diffs..

And then theres the issue getting the carpet and seats dried back out before mildew sets in..

However.. I'd suggest the insurance route for repairs.. You can't fix stupid, but insurance will cover it..

*Status update*

dealer replaced BCM, truck fired right up. Now having the diff fluid, oil changed, and tranny fluid changed..
I guess we will take it from there...

Wow, that's lucky!

How is she running? Got power through all gears?

She is running fine, has power through all the gears, etc. however there is a weird noise at idle I have never heard before, kind of sounds like water bubbling.... :duh: also the airbag light is on. I have a couple extra 5.0 mustang engines sitting in my pole barn seriously considering pulling everything electronic out of this car and tossing a carbureted v-8 in it ....we will see.
