Postby Ziolo » Fri Dec 31, 2010 2:18 am

hi.
i have a problem.
yeasterday i parked in the garage.
today morning i turned key to ON position and hmm... lights ok, windows ok but the engine wont start.
It's not the battery, it works in another car perfectly :/

When the key is in ON position the security light is flashing :/ i dont remmember if that light was flashing earlier.

Security problem ??

i supose to be now on the way to new year party :/

thnx for any help mates.

UPDATE:
i found something like this.
i'll try it, i hope that helps ;/

Posted by Jerry Newton 410 days and 13 hours ago. Expert's Answer Yes, that's a passlock problem. About the only thing that you are going to be able to do is try to relearn it. Try to start, then leave key on until the security light goes out. Should be about ten minutes. Key off, try to start, and wait ten minutes again until light goes out. Then do it again. You're going to do this three times in succession, then key off, wait 30 seconds, and try to start it. It may work, it may not. If it doesn't, it's off to the dealer on a flatbed.

You can also try disconnecting the negative battery cable for a minute or two, and see if that clears up the no start problem. (NO need to disconnect both cables, no need to touch them, just disconnect one and the circuit is broken, and the negative is the safe one to disconnect.)

If that doesn't work, or the reset doesn't work, it could be the ignition key module. They are noted to fail.

Are the battery cables tight, and I mean VERY tight? Do you still have the stock battery cable connectors? Can you take a hold of one and spin it while on the post? If so, they are not tight enough. Could be another ground problem at another point, or could be the ignition key module is starting to go the way of the loony bird.

If still under warranty, take it to the dealer.

Battery cables are tight, VERY tight.cant move them without using full strenght.

It's easy to replace that ignition key module by my own?

Have not found the procedure yet but based on the exploded diahgram below it doesn't apear that it would be too difficult. The ignition switch is #13.

Screws need to be chisled out, the heads are sheared off on install for anti-theft protection.
Make sure to disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (air bag) system.
If the air bag roll coil is removed, it MUST be centered or it will break when turning full lock to full lock.

Unless someone is very familiar with the replacement of this part, and the workings of the air bag system, I do not recommend it.

I also said it COULD be the ignition key module, I would recommend more diagnosis before starting to throw parts at a problem.
