Program Keyless Entry

Can the H3 keyless entry be changed to honk the horn when activated? I can't seem to find it in the manual.

There are several options and believe they are in the manual. I will try to take a look at the service manual later for the instructions.

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)

This feature allows you to program your Remote
Keyless Entry (RKE) feedback to a preferred
setting.
To set your choice for this feature, perform the
following steps:
1. With the engine off, turn the key to LOCK.
Do not remove the key from the ignition.

2. Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons
on the RKE transmitter at the same time.
Hold both buttons until the DIC display shows
the current RKE feedback mode.

3. To view the next available mode, press and
hold the reset stem for about two seconds.
Release the reset stem and press and
hold again to view each mode.
4. Once the desired mode is shown on the DIC
display, briefly press the reset stem to set
your choice. The DIC display will then clear.

The following are the available modes:
RFA 1 (default): This mode flashes the parking
lamps when you press the lock or unlock
buttons on the RKE transmitter.

RFA 2: This mode flashes the parking lamps and
sounds the horn when you press the lock button
on the RKE transmitter. This mode also flashes the
parking lamps when you press the unlock button
on the RKE transmitter.

RFA 3: This mode flashes the parking lamps
and sounds the horn when you press the lock or
unlock buttons on the RKE transmitter.

RFA 4: This mode disables RKE feedback. There
will be no feedback when you press the lock or
unlock buttons on the RKE transmitter.

I wish they could be programmed to open all the doors rather than two clicks on the remote for that. PITA when you have arms full of gear and don't hit the damn thing twice just right. :wall:

I wish it had a combination of the two, so when locking it you can hit the lock button once it would lock and flash it's lights and when you hit the lock button twice it would honk.

My parent's cars (Envoy & Cadillac) does that so that you can lock it and not have to announce to everybody you've arrived, especially when you're running late. ;)

X2, wish it would could be set to honk on the second push of the lock button. I have had several vehicle that do that and it's nice to have the audible alert when you are walking away and can't see the lights flash :yup:

That should work try again, check manual. Check your manual under Instrument panel chapter, then DIC operation, then look for RKE feedback. My manual has this on page 3-36
