Creaking noise in front end ugh!!!!

Postby Bayrat » Fri Feb 05, 2010 7:49 pm

Glad I have an appointment Tuesday for the bluetooth and the rear door handles, now they can see what is up with the bedspring noise in the front end. Since I have owned it I could faintly hear something but today I hit a bump and now when the suspension moves it sounds like one of those old spring beds with that farm girl every traveling salesman dreams of bouncing on it. :wall:

That's pretty descriptive :o
I take it you were a traveling salesman in farm country then?

I can see the repair order correction line now:

Customer Complaint:
Customer states suspension sounds like an old creaking bed that a traveling salesman and a farm girl are making love on:

Correction:
Removed creaking bed. Unable to remove salesman from farm girl. Suggest customer purchase a shotgun to remove salesman.

Seriously though, try spraying the bushings and other suspension components with WD or something similar. Spray on one part and drive it. If it didn't get better spray another and so on. It is not a permenant fix but you will at least be able to isolate the problem component. Also take a wrench and just check to see if anything has come loose.

The old Bayrat would have been on that like flies on a garbage truck but not the now REALLY OLD version  The dealer can spray and fix. Remember the Fords with the squeaky shock towers in the 60's? Same deal, only this was 42k and not $1895 :wall:

I do travel quite a bit and have had experience on those particular type of work benches. :yup:

Sounds like your front torsion bars got a little mud or something in them. Whatever it was, the torsion bars dried out where they mount underneath your seat or to the a-arm. My dealer lubbed my H3 up real good and now there is no friction...and no noise. I'll refrain from typing the dirty simile that ran through my head.

Oddly coincidental - my H3 started the same thing yesterday on the driver's side A arm, rear mount. It's also the location where the new crossmember was installed. I tried a couple of different lubes and could not get it to stop. It is LOUD!

Seth, could be the torsion bar as you suggest, just surprised that it took only two miles of dirt road - road, not trail - to do this.

Well, I haven't been to the dealer for six days now, might as well go back. :wall:

Body mounts

I had a creaking that I thought was suspension related. I must have lubed everything up front numerous times and the noise did not go away.
Dealer found it was the 4 front body mounts, lubed them up and noise gone.

Probably the skid plates. My skid plates always get loose and make all sorts of noise, especially when turning. It always turns out that it needed the skid plates tightened down.

Driver's side lower ball joint is bad - that's my squeaking/creaking/grinding noise. Used lower control arm on order with new bushings. :wall:
