Welcome to HXC! My personal favorite H1 colors are the gray and black. I like the tactical look they portray. It looks like you may be going for a little more of a flashy color, though. Silver is eye catching without being obnoxious.

Where do you live? If you live in a the sun belt, I'd personally keep it a light color, with white really being optimal. The cooling on early wagon's (pre 97.5) is pretty weak, for a dark wagon in the sun.

Also, speaking of that, if you end up removing your roof to fix that rust, that would be a great time to put some good insulation in there.

My favorite colors would be tan, desert sand, mesa dusk, white, black, dark green, and maybe pewter. One guy on humvee.net painted his Alpha wagon in Dodge Viper blue, looks very sharp. he actually just sold his Alpha. Here's a link to his classified ad:

I think desert sand, grey, and white look the best on a H1. I see way to many black ones around.

I'd avoid metallic colors if you can. I was going to paint my hummer metallic sand [2004 year color] and went with Tan Factory Gloss instead as it's much easier to touch up.

If you are going to be in a situation where your paint will be damaged on a regular basis [off roading] then I'd go with a factory paint code that's non metallic.

This is my hummer. It was originally white and the last owner painted it green. Its an expensive, time consuming process. This has been discussed in great lengths on the HML. Most advise to use someone who has worked with aluminum before.

I don't know how much it costs, but it is expensive. More than you would estimate. Many have attempted a color change, and some have failed. With a bad job, or stopped at the sanding.

My favorite color is Sand. I don't know why, I hated it at first, but it grows on you. Kind of reminds me of naked lady....

Thanks for the compliments,

And here is my favorite alpha wagon. I believe the paint code is desert tan metallic (take note of the previous posters, metallic doesn't clean up well). According to lynch's website, this wagon is 1 of 1.... WOW!

I believe its still for sale... time to buy a lotto ticket.

My favorite color by far is mesa dusk. For some reason I never have cared for blue H1's or any form of beige (even if you call it dessert sand) .

Doc that green looks great! 8)
