These pictures are amazing. I have a 2008 Hummer H3 Alpha. Trying not to reinvent the wheel, I am looking for your experience, and knowledge. I am looking for the best roof rack to maximize all the space I can. Picture #4 looks like exactly like what I am looking for, topside tire mount, with boxes for tow straps, tools etc. I noticed it is a GOBI. How do you like it? I also have a sunroof. Since I just got out of the Corps, helicopter pilot, always looking for an extra way out. Is it possible to modify the GOBI above the roof rack to create a "Get outta da truck" hatch, other then the doors. Has anyone done this, or in your experience, put this idea out there for comments? or is this a dumb idea?

I just ordered a new front bumper with Warren winch 9000 lbs., also a steel rear bumper. I'd like to get the spare off the rear gate. Also add additional fuel to extend my range. I have the standard tank. I was thinking, (always dangerous), of adding a gravity fed tank on top that that could feed into the main tank. Does anyone have any ideas? Should I stick to 5 gal cans?

I have a Gobi on my Alpha and love the rack. I have yet to come across a rack on an H3 that I like better. If you are asking about the one in the 4th picture on the first page that is Phil's old H2 which has since been retired (sold). Phil owns Trailduty.com which is a Gobi dealer and you can't beat his service. If you are looking for a rack I highly recommend you shoot him an email over there.

I'll second what Mark said. Gobi is a great company and trail duty.com is awesome too. You can get the rack without anything over the sunroof and get the insert for extra flooring if needed.

It is a nice rig and you can drive it. Time to get out and get it dirty again.

Thanks Mark. Your set-up is far better than mine, plus you have that sweet LS motor. I may have to swap out my roof rack cause I liked yours so much better.

Thanks, been a work in progress with more changes coming. Did you see that Michael has a Gobi Ranger rack new in the box that he is trying to sell. It's not cheap but it's about half what it would cost to by one from Gobi.

Yea saw that, just not in the budget right now. :( Used to be a musclecar guy, still am, but my Firebirds and Camaros had my wallet leaking. The H3 hasn't been as bad, but dang if you want quality for these things you gotta really drop some coin.

You are not kidding :wall:

A lot of people call it the Hummer tax assuming manufacturers just charge more because Hummers cost more. The reality is the market it so much smaller they have to charge more to produce the products, at least the quality ones.
