Holcomb Creek is still closed. I just spoke with the ranger station and it's still not safe for public access. It's a real shame as it's been closed for a year and a half.

Seth,
Thanks for the info. What's not safe exactly? Are they afraid of burned out trees falling on vehicles or mud slides or something? I can't imagine what would be considered a safety issue. I thought they were just keeping it closed so the area could recover.

Hope you guys have fun. I'd like to make it out there....but it doesn't look like that'll happen this year.

Take care,
Sean

They are afraid of cave ins in the ground due to burned tree roots, falling trees, and to allow time for the area to recover.

I hope you get to make it out here before too long. I promise to start a run for Holcomb Creek as soon as it opens.

Less than two weeks now. Anyone else considering joining us? Any questions from anyone?

Absent for some reason. Bellvis is real busy, but I haven't heard from beavis at all. I hope he decides to join us. I know he will have a ton of fun.

I really want to join you for this trip but my kid is already trying to claw his way out of my wife (due June 3rd). I am so afraid that as soon as I get to BB and get out of cell range she will go into labor.

If she is having a great few days before I may join in the fun as a last minute add.

Just bring her with you. Maybe the bouncing and such will help induce. ;)

I hope you can make it if its safe. We should have cell phone reception on the entire trail. I always do on AT&T. But, you are still a ways from home. You know where to meet us if you decide to come. :)
