X Rocks 2009!!! Moab June 14-20

Postby Mark » Tue Feb 03, 2009 5:12 pm

X Rocks 2009

X Rocks 2009 will be held Moab, Utah the week of June 14-20, 2009.

HXC will gather in Moab to conquer ledges, slickrock, and razorbacks. Moab is the 4x4 mecca of the USA and is a not to be missed destination. The views and wheelin' are breath taking. The scenery to be experienced is out of this world. There will be trails run everyday during the week. Most likely one day will be a scenic tour to enjoy all that Moab has to offer. There is also plenty to do in the area for those that wish to take some time out and be a tourist.

Club membership is not required, there are no event entrance fees and all capable vehicles are welcome. Kids are welcome. You are responsible for your own food, lodging, gas, etc.

When: June 14-20, 2009

Although X Rocks will last all week, there is no need to commit to the entire week. Participants are encouraged to attend at their convenience. The plan is to run trails and view the scenery Monday through Friday with the weekends being for travel.

Where: Moab, UT

Official Moab site http://www.moab.net/index.php

Meeting Spot: The Gonzo Inn in downtown Moab.

Trails: All that Moab has to offer.

Trail planning is will occur closer to launch with most final decisions being made in Moab. At least one day will be set aside as an entire group day. There will likely be two groups in Moab for some of the time at least, one will be tackling some of the harder trails like Pritchett Canyon. There will also be plenty of opportunity to tackle easy trails like Hells Revenge, Fins 'n' Things etc, as well as moderate trails like Golden Spike.

Comm: CB channel 37

Lodging: We have a group rate at the Gonzo Inn, be sure to mention Hummer X Club when booking, as they are fully booked apart from our block booked rooms. Although the Gonzo is where HXC gets a discount, there are other motels/cabins/camp grounds in the area that everyone is more than welcome to stay at. Please do post up where you plan on staying. That away we can keep track of how many are staying where to better help with the planning.

For those who prefer a cheaper form of lodging, there is plenty of dirt, sand, and rocks to camp on. Sleeping under the stars can always be fun. Remember, it will be very hot during the day; although it should be around 60-65 degrees at night. Here are a couple webites for camping in the area:

Sounds like alot of fun to me! I have my vacation (from work) scheduled for the first 3 weeks of July though... Maybe I will have to reconsider, this is going to be a tough, tough, TOUGH decision. Hmmm... Moab with my Hummer peeps or WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas.

It does suck, I'm usually stuck to day trips from May 1 to July 4. Not to mention this falls on the weekend of WFTW on the Rubicon.

If I cut the Blacksheep run a bit short for myself that would give me more days in June. Hmm, three trips to Moab in the first half of 2009? Woohoo! 8)

Bebe...I spoke with Kevin and he requested the Rubicon Event be moved to the weekend of June 6-7. So, the X Rocks event won't be until the following week.

I would LOVE to make this trip but will be in Reno that week. I'm sure you all will have a terrific time though! :D
