AZ - Sedona, Saturday August 22nd (DATE CHG)

Postby alrock » Thu Jul 30, 2009 8:33 pm

Hey AZ folks! We're heading up to Sedona on Saturday, August 15th for a day of wheeling. Trails TBD but will of course start with Broken Arrow, the classic moderate trail on which the Pink Jeeps run their tours. Why pay $75 for their tour when we can wheel for free (or at least for the $5 cost of park pass)?

Date: Saturday, August 22 (We moved it back one week from the 15th)
Meeting time: 8:30 am, depart at 8:45
Meeting place: McDonalds on Carefree Highway, just east of I-17

Broken Arrow is a great trail for wheeling newbies that want to try a few rocks but not get in over their heads. Fun challenges that any Hummer, stock or built up, will enjoy. Non-Hummers, like those Jeep-Chevy and oil burning K Blazers, are definitely welcome. It will take us about 90 minutes to reach Sedona, so wheeling will begin around 10:30 am.

Other trails are open for votes and may include Soldier's Pass, Oak Creek Canyon, Greasy Spoon or other suggestions.

Bring a lunch, plenty of water and a camera with lots of space on the memory card. We will likely conclude the day with dinner in Sedona as well.

This one is a big maybe for both myself and Todd. My rig is having fuel system issues, while Todd is having problems with his low-mile rebuilt tranny slipping in OD. We will have to see if we can get these issues sorted out before this trip.

If I go we have to do some other trails. I did B.A. last Mo with Linda all in 2 wheel drive. (Ok I use 4 wheel drive a few times) With a little work I might be able to make it with a H3

Other trails are an absolute. BA is the start and if we have any newbies it's a great way to start. I like to get through there pretty quick.

And with the H3 comment - :x :x :x

Hi recent joined the boards and am excited to see other people out wheeling, my fiance and I can only drive around saguaro for so long ! so we would definitely like to come as well .. I've only been wheeling a couple years but it seems to go well, I've done the Coke ovens loop , box canyon , martinez cabin , all of the butcher jones Saguaro trails, Sycamore Creek, 4 peeks, Mesa Table road, ect.

I have a stock 2007 H3 .. 0 options. .. I mean 0 .. It has a manual transmission : ) But I did conservatively crank the Tbars up to 23 inches.

Getting married first week of Sept, after the wedding all bets are off.

I'm Phil and my fiance is Erica

I'll touch base again as we get closer to confirm but count us in.

Sounds great Phil! You'll be in good shape with us if you've knocked out those trails.

And Congrats on the upcoming wedding.
