Clayton Oklahoma

Ran trails at Clayton today...Had no idea where we were or how to read the signs as there were no arrows pointing towards the their direction. Basically there for exploration purposes to get familiar with the trails. GakPad ran the trails with us, but since he does not yet have lockers in his JK and only running 33s, we kept things on the mild side of the spectrum. We did make some runs up some of the hills on trails rated a 4 (w/o Gakpad) rating but I think their rating system there was very conservative as we walked right through them with little to no difficulty. I did pass one trail rated a 6, but this was confusing as their rating system only goes from 1 to 5. The 6 trail had some walls right at the beginning but nothing too difficult where I wouldn't have done them in the H2.

Overall, we had an excellent day. Broke off one of my LE integrated side steps coming down with full vehicle weight on it. Leading the troop, I ran through some large boulder and it started feeling like I was dragging a large rock. Bro Tim got out to check underneath and both front wheels were pointing inward. I thought, "Great - I broke a HD Fabtech Tierod" :wall: Got out to look closer and the nut that held the tie rod to the spindle/knuckle fell off. Gakpad foudn the nut so trail repair time was minimal.

Outside temps were over 100 so the day was quite hot, but still made for a good time. Didn't see any other rigs on the entire trail, which was strange :duh:

Lots of cabins in the area and plenty of challenging trails, so will make a great place for the Texas chapter to visit soon. Trails were quite narrow for an H2 but there surely a little wider now. Plenty of great wheeling from 33s with no lockers to highly extreme for buggys. About 2.5-3 hours to get there - north of Dallas. Very nice mountainous scenery with piney woods. Will try to get some pics or videos from one of the other guys to post up.

Hi Justin...Do you by chance know these trails?

If not, I will have to wait until they have their next event so I can run them with someone familiar of all the trails there.

Great to see Oklahoma finally getting some action. Please post up some pics so I can see what the state looks like now. It's been a few years.
