CA's Carnegie to open to 4X4 vehicles?

Anybody know anything about this? More land actually opening? :duh: :o

A LOOK TO THE FUTURE...
In 1998, over 3,000 acres located west of the current riding area, were purchased by the state for inclusion into Carnegie SVRA. This proposal, known as the Alameda-Tesla Expansion Project, will provide increased OHV recreational opportunities at Carnegie SVRA, including an extensive multiple use (i.e., motorcycles, ATVs, 4x4 vehicles, sports utility vehicles) trail system, a 4x4 vehicle obstacle course, a day-use staging area, and interpretive and informational facilities. The proposed project may also provide non-OHV recreational opportunities like mountain biking, horseback riding and hiking, provided there is no conflict between them and OHV users.

Currently in the planning phase, this project has received considerable input from OHV user groups, adjacent landowners and a variety of regulatory agencies. Because the newly acquired property contains sensitive cultural and natural resources, it is imperative that OHVers adhere to the "trail riding only" requirement once the area is opened. With the continued support of OHV enthusiasts, this acquisition, which represents a significant addition to Carnegie SVRA and to the statewide SVRA system, will ensure that riding opportunities are available for years to come!

Hadn't heard about an expansion, but I know they've added some rock obstacles to the 4x4 area. There's a thread on Pirate with some pics (in the NorCal section). There's also rumors that the expansion at Hollister is finally happening. 8)

It sounds like the expansion at Carnegie includes the town of Tesla. Nothing much left of the town other than some cellar holes and maybe some buried artifacts. I can't remember if a graveyard exists there or if it was moved. :duh:
