Where To Buy a New Cylinder Head

Postby Badboy617 » Wed Aug 19, 2015 5:20 am

Hi everyone, can you all please help me and tell me where I can buy a new cylinder head for an 07 H3 Adventure?
I've got the same problem with most people with bad cylinder head, cylinder 5 is misfiring and I've had a compression test done and it's 25psi where all the other cylinders are above 100.

You might check salvage yards. What other vehicles down there use the I-5?

Don't they make them anymore for H3's?
Not too sure what other vehicles here in Australia has I-5 :duh:

Yes, you can still buy them but from a cost stand point if you can find a good one in a salvage yard it could save you some money.

GMpartsdirect.com has the head for $788.31 but shipping to you would be outrageous.

Thanks Mark for your help. A bit hard to find 2nd Hummer parts here in Australia and will be difficult to source one from there without inspecting the head itself and various tests will need to be taken.

Have heard it's very hard to get parts new or used down there. Good luck on your search and let us know if you need anymore help.

Do you know if this cylinder would be better than the stock or is it the same? I just don't want to go through the same problem later down the track?

It would be the same head but most likely you would not run into this issue again. There was an issue early on in '06 with a bad batch of cylinder heads that had this same issue. They were replaced but have heard of this issue happening on some '07 and '08 H3s. I would be shocked if you had the same issue again.

I do not recall hearing of anybody having the issue again after getting a replacement head.
